RELATIONSHIP WITH TEAM JAM

Last summer (2003), Jake was invited by his cousin Mike Rupp (New Jersey Devils) and friends Jake Cepis and Alex Norman, to stop by the Christian Hockey Camp held in Parma. Jake finally stopped by on Wednesday, even though he was leaving for the US Select team the next day.

Not knowing what to expect, he took part in the hockey drills, chapel and the smaller group "huddles" to discuss the Bible.  Mike(Rupp) took the opportunity to talk from his heart to his cousin about the opportunity Jake now had at the camp to establish a relationship with Christ.  Shortly afterward during a conversation  on the ice(and between slapshots), Jake asked Christ to be his Savior.

Since he has been back playing with the Barons this winter, Jake has been a regular attendee at our Hockey Chapels for the Midget-Major Cleveland Barons. He will also be doing volunteer work with TEAM JAM as part of a service requirement for Padua Franciscan High School, where he attends.

SCOUTING REPORT:

"Jake plays and hits like a 6'5" 225 (lb.) player.  His offensive skills and defensive awareness will make him a valuable player for juniors and beyond." . . . Chris Lepkowski, Barons Midget Major Coach.

"I  have had the opportunity to watch Jake grow up as a player over the last seven years.  I believe Jake will be a very good Junior A player and an excellent Division I prospect.  Jake is a player that could have gone anywhere to play juniors, but decided to stay home and play with the Barons. " . . . Tim Alexander, Cleveland Junior Barons Head Coach and General Manager
