 THE TEAM JAM CONNECTION

In the summer of 2002, TEAM JAM was assisting in running Hockey Ministries International's first hockey camp in the Cleveland area.  Though it was a small camp, Mike took time out to volunteer a couple of days to coach and counsel.  Mike met a couple of TEAM JAM volunteers at the camp that summer as well, including Jimmy Oliver, Kevin Sunde, Steve Sorenson, and John Saucier.
Mike enjoyed the experience so much, he committed to volunteer for the ENTIRE week the following summer (2003), long before his stardom in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.  As the New Jersey Devils continued to advance through the playoffs, many of those involved with the camp wondered whether Mike would still volunteer so soon after the playoffs (4 days).  Once Mike had his big game, it seemed too good t
o be true to hope that he would still be there at the camp.
But on Tuesday morning and throughout the rest of the week, that is exactly where Mike was found.  Not only did he help coach, counsel, teach and mix with all the campers all day long of each day, but he also shared the story behind all we had seen unfold on television.
His story was caught on videotape and is now available on CD for you to enjoy.

MIKE RUPP

LATEST NEWS
November 11, 2006

Thursday night, Mike scored his first goal of the season in the opening period against Chicago in their shootout win. With just two minutes left in the period, Johnny Oduya fired a shot down the left boards, and goalie Brian Boucher -- anticipating the puck's arrival -- went behind his net. But, the puck never reached Boucher because it hit a spot on the corner boards and bounced right to the hustling Rupp for an easy goal into the empty net.

Having played 10 games so far this season, Mike still has only taken 3 shots.  But with his one goal on three tries, he leads the team in shooting percentage at 33%.

TEAM JAM CAMPERS!

Thanks for joining me at our second TEAM JAM hockey camp!!  Our week exceeded all expectations again we had more than 50 campers, got a ton of ice time and most importantly, saw many who attended the camp give their lives to Christ!

We are looking forward to keeping in touch with you throughout the hockey season and into next year's camp.  I encourage you to keep in touch by writing me at mikerupp@teamjam.org and we will continue to work together on our relationship with Christ.  Please continue to pray for me throughout the season (privately and by email).  Pray for my coaches, teammates and New Jersey Devils fans as we show them how God impacts our lives both off and ON the ice.

MY BEST DECISION

- a personal note to those of you that read this site.

I grew up knowing who God was, but not really knowing WHO He is, and that I could have a relationship with Him. I wasn't a bad kid or created any trouble, so I thought that I was just right where I should be.  I was wrong.

I MET THE LORD WHEN I WAS 19 AFTER I LEARNED THAT CHRIST WOULD BECOME MY SAVIOR IF I ASKED HIM TO FORGIVE ME OF MY SIN AND SAVE ME FROM HELL.

He has given me so many blessings and given me the strength to deal with the tough times.  I turn to Him when things are bad, but even more so when they are GOOD.  He has set me free from all the things on earth that once held me down. He has lifted me up over the obstacles in life and makes me strong (through Him) to battle through the rest !

He is my mentor, friend, King, and warrior.  The coolest thing about it is . . . all I had to do was ASK !!!                  - Mike   Rupp

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

NY Islanders selected Mike with the 9th overall pick in the '98 Draft after his senior year of high school when he was 18 yrs. old.

Bobby Orr saw his upside and brought Rupp to the OHL. He was taken 10th overall in the OHL Draft and was a member of both the U.S. U-15 and U-17 teams.

Mike improved his point totals in each of his three years with the Erie Otters from 10 to 47 to 53.

Affter not agreeing to a contract with the Islanders, Rupp re-entered the NHL Draft and was selected in the 3rd round, 76th overall by the Devils in the 2000 draft.

Mike immediately played for the Albany River Rats for the 2000-01 season and posted 10 goals and 20 points in 71 games.

In 2001-02, Rupp emerged as one of the more reliable players. He improved his point total to 30 and played in 78 games.

2002-03  Earned a call up to New Jersey on his birthday (Jan. 13) and gave himself a couple of  birthday presents with  2 goals in his first ever NHL game.

Rupp was forced to watch most of the Devils Stanley Cup run from the press box, but an injury to Joe Nieuwendyk forced Rupp into the line-up.  Again in dramatic fashion, he responded well, with an assist in game 4 and the game winning goal in the 7th and deciding game of the finals (along with two assists).

RUPP SCORES TWO GOALS INCLUDING GAME WINNER
Give him an NHL game and national television, and you can count on Mike to come up big.  This is what you call a prime time player.  In spite of his heroics in the Stanley Cup Championship last year, he started off this year with limited playing time.  But with the team having trouble scoring and off to a sluggish start, Coach started playing Mike in the past week and Mike responded with two goals in Thursday night's televised game, including the game winner
