I knew that I needed Christ through my every day life, not just in sports, even though it helps a lot in sports.  I think I need to be a role model because a lot of kids look up to me.  But, I want them to look up to me for more than wrestling, like for my relationship with God.
One day I was walking the hall at school during my senior year at Akron St. V-St. Mary, and my friend, Chad Mraz, asked me to come to meet with a friend of his at lunch time to talk about God.  His friend, John Saucier from TEAM JAM, would visit each week at lunch time to explain how to get closer to Christ.  Once we began talking I knew that was exactly what I was looking for.  It came at the perfect time in my life.  I didn’t even wait once it was explained to me how I could have Him as my Savior.  I prayed right there at lunch time the first time we met.
I was so excited I told my brother Ryan and most of my best friends. I wanted to do what ever I could to find an excuse to get my friends together to talk about how they could know him to. Ryan made the same decision a week later.
I know now that I can’t live without God. I know what gifts and abilities that He’s given me and I can’t let Him down.  I have a responsibility to keep Him first and make sure that God knows He’s first and that I am grateful for what He’s given me.

I was in the summer of my fifth grade year and my mom wanted to send me to our local church's kids camp. It was called Round Lake. Anyway I was not really looking forward to going because I wasn't going to know anyone, so I talked my friend Keith into going. I was glad a friend was with me but that changed when two days into the camp, Keith got home sick and had his mother come pick him up.
That night I cried to my mom to come pick me up but she refused and told me to wait until the next day to see what happened and to just meet some kids. I got to know a few kids and a few days past.  On the second to last day I remember them doing baptisms in the lake. The next night (the last night) we had a Christian band in to play, and towards the end of the show I remember we were all on our feet singing along with the chorus.  Then the band and the camp director came to the microphone and asked for anyone who would like to confess there will to God to come forward. No one was walking up to him, but something came over me and I got goosebumbs running down my back and felt a jolt or confidence in my faith rise. I went up to the front of the room and that's when I prayed to ask Christ to be my Savior.  A few others then followed me up too. That next week at church I was baptized in front of my friends and family.
Since that time there have been many times that I have recommitted my life to Christ.   Lately I have been trying to grow in my faith and have been reading out of the Bible more. One of the verses I read was Phillippians 4:13.  I love that verse.
