ANDY'S
RELATIONSHIP WITH
JESUS CHRIST
I grew up in a
good Christian family and learned about God at an early age.
However, it wasn't until a few years ago that I realized what
it truly meant to be a child of God.
All through
high school, college, and even the early years of my marriage
and career, I didn't really buy into the concept of God's
grace. Sure, I believed in Jesus, I thanked God for my
blessings, and I even prayed occasionally. The problem was all
in who I thought I was. All of my self worth was based
on my actions; in general, my actions on a daily basis, more
specifically, how I performed on the football field. In my
mind my play on the field became who I was, when in reality it
is only what I do.
Some
struggles in my career and the birth of my children helped me
to put things in perspective. One cannot earn a good standing
with the Lord. Jesus did all the work for us when he died on
the cross. He paid the price for all of our sins. I realized
that God loves me no matter how badly I screw up in life or
how poorly I play on the field. The great thing is that since
I realized this and took the pressure off of myself, I have
screwed up a lot less. I have become a much better football
player as well. I think it's a matter of giving control of
your life over to Jesus completely. Bad things still happen to
all of us sometimes, but with the knowledge of God's grace one
can get through it. If you are reading this, I hope you
realize God's love for you as well.
THE
TEAM JAM CONNECTION

TEAM
JAM's first high school outreach efforts began in the Akron
area's Richfield Revere high school. Though Andy was
already at college (Toledo) at that time, he caught our
attention when he was eventually added to the Cleveland Browns
practice squad (1994).
During
that same year, he was picked up by the New Orleans Saints.
TEAM JAM was involved with the Saints through Irv Smith (tight
end, Notre Dame). During the following season, Irv aided
us in meeting Andy after one of their exhibition games in
Detroit.
Through
continued visits to the games and contact with the McCollum
family in the off- season, Andy assisted TEAM JAM in a couple
of outreach efforts. He was a personable
coach at Ricky Power's football camp in Akron and helped us
promote an Illusion Show (Milan and Linda) at Revere HS.

MOMENTS . . .
IN WARRENTON, MO.

Back
on Monday morning, April 5th, Andy McCollum of the St.

the morning to speak to their FCA huddle. In
spite of the early meeting time, over 80 students plus
teachers and friends in the community came out to meet
Andy share about his personal relationship with Jesus
Christ. Here are some of the memories.
