CFL (Canadian Football League)
A typical rookie free agent contract is around $45,000 Canadian dollars - for the six month committment. It converts into less than $30,000 in American money

Arena Football League
A typical rookie contract is around $1500 a week for the 20 weeks you play for the team.  If you are on the inactive list, it is around $400/wk., plus your housing is provided.

AFL 2
Though the competition, crowds, and game facilites are rather impressive, (check the sites), the rookie contracts are only $200/wk and you don't have housing provided unless your agent can negotiate it.  You'll definitely need a second job in the afternoons after practice.
