BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
Building Relationships . . . Like Jesus did in John 5:2-9
Jesus approached the man at the Pool of Bethesda. Though He is God and knows everything, He still watches us and KNOWS us. He proved this by approaching the man who had been crippled for 38 yrs and waiting for a miracle all that time and meeting his need. Though we have taught on this many times, permit a summary that definitely does not do the story justice, but it will help you learn.
- Jesus knew the man from observation.
- Jesus initiated contact.
- He asked if the crippled man WANTED help.
- He provided help.
- He gave him a simple mission.
- Jesus did not publicize or stick around for acclaim or recognition.
1. Pray for and initiate interaction with a specific list of people.
2. Observe/Learn needs, milestones, accomplishments, of other people. Discover their “love” language.
3. Build Relationships through the art of asking questions & meeting needs.
4. Make (up to) 7 significant experiences with those whom you are trying to reach.
5. Be acutely aware of the times in their lives that they will be most receptive (7 Windows of Opportunity)
6. Empower them in the development of their gifts, abilities, and influence.
